Water Supply

Lusted Water District shares Portland's Bull Run water supply.  Lusted Water District purchases wholesale water from the City of Portland according to the terms of a 20-year contract signed in 2006.   The wholesale water purchase contract is a "cost of service" type arrangement where Lusted Water District pays a proportional amount of Portland Water Bureau's water supply and transmission infrastructure capital, debt service and operation costs.  Lusted's wholesale cost is calculated and adjusted each fiscal year.

Rather than renewing a contract with the City of Portland for the period following July 1, 2026; Lusted Water District is considering alternatives including development of an independent well field or purchasing water from the City of Gresham.  Discussions about the future water supply are regularly discussed at District Board Meetings.
